The Launch of A Focused Journey by Prof. Kisamba Mugerwa

Purpose

To promote a culture of reading and writing broadly for personal and societal revolutionary transformation and to brake the perception that reading other books away from the academic ones is for literature students or a selected few.

Uganda and Africa at large are famously known for having a very poor reading and writing culture, hence the saying that; hiding anything to an African can best be done in a book.

A Sub-Saharan Africa UNESCO report reveals the following facts;
More than 1 in 3 adults cannot read
0 +
176 million adults are unable to read and write
0 M
47 million youth (ages 15-24) are illiterate
0 M
21 million adolescents are not in school
0 M
32 million primary aged children are not in school either

Why Read & Write

For long, most students and professionals are majorly encouraged to read and write for exam and interview passing, while writing books/stories has been relegated to only those with specific training or natural talent. It is well known that it is by reading and writing broadly that societies are able to gain, share knowledge and hence embark on individual and national development, as guided by inspirations, discoveries and experiences that have been read and written down.

Vision

To establish a robust reading and writing culture.

Mision

Promote a diverse reading and writing culture to ensure unlimited knowledge acquisition and sharing.

Objectives

TFK – LUMINARY: YOUR PLATFORM TO SHINE

The Read-write Clubs come on board to deliberately address the two very important aspects of reading and writing, considering their importance in society, as listed below.

A poor reading and writing culture, carries disadvantages to an individual and the country at large and these are as listed below:

Unemployment in Uganda

The unemployment level in Uganda is increasing every year with 400,000 graduands being released into the job market every year. Lack of interest in reading and writing partly contributes to joblessness in the country. It is at this critical point that the TFK Read – Write Clubs TV show comes on board to improve the reading and writing culture among Ugandans, East Africa and Africa at large.

We are happy to work with anyone with a thirst to establish a strong reading and writing culture in Uganda, East Africa and Africa at large.
